Description

Katachi-Go is a colorful 2D and 3D logic puzzle that solves like Sudoku, but with shapes. Use the clues scattered across the board to figure out which shapes belong in each location and how they should be oriented. Reason your way to the answer the same way you'd solve a Sudoku, except here the grid is a colorful pattern or pyramid you can hold, turn, and build. It is a single player puzzle by design, a spatial reasoning workout you can pick up for five minutes or lose an hour to. Katachi-Go uses its own original piece set and ships as a 3D-printed puzzle, designed and printed by Hoffmakers in Smithfield, Utah, just like every other Hoffmakers product.

Questions & Answers

Is Katachi-Go in stock?

Yes — Katachi-Go is in stock and ships within 2–3 business days.

Why is it $59 instead of $79?

$59 is our early-bird price for makers who get in early — you get the exact same puzzle as everyone who pays $79 later, just at a friendlier price for ordering now.

How many pieces does it have?

12 original sphere-cluster piece set, all of which are used for both 2D and 3D puzzles.

Is this a one-player game?

Yes, it is a single player puzzle by default, with no turn timer or buzzer setting the pace. It shares well too: one customer uses it with her STEM students, who work the same board in pairs. Either way it is a spatial reasoning challenge rather than a race.

What does "mathematically optimized" actually mean?

The 12-piece set wasn't picked by hand, we ran an exhaustive algorithmic search across thousands of candidate shape combinations and kept the best set. The flat tray alone has thousands of confirmed unique solutions.

Are there really thousands of possible puzzles?

Yes! Factor in every full-board solution, all 7 tiers (2D) plus the pyramid build, 5 difficulty settings, and the randomized pattern of which clues show for each piece, and the number of distinct puzzles clears into the thousands.

Why does Katachi-Go cost more than a toy-aisle puzzle?

Katachi-Go isn't trying to be a cheaper Kanoodle, it's a display-worthy puzzle, designed and printed by Hoffmakers, built for people who want something more: a gift that looks as good as it plays, or a deeper challenge for puzzle enthusiasts who've outgrown the toy aisle. Each one is 3D-printed to order in Smithfield, UT, with an original 12-piece set, a companion digital game, and enough puzzle variety (thousands of combinations) to stay interesting long after a $15 puzzle would be solved and shelved.

I use this in my school classroom with my STEM students. They love that they can do the puzzle in either 2D or 3D. I love that 2 or 3 kids work together to do the same puzzle. I’ve found my younger students like to simply fill it in on their own without following a challenge. The size of this logic puzzle makes it much easier to manage.
